Anyone else have this problem?!?

You're stressed out to the max trying to meet a deadline to get your sales copy sorted & then your dog comes along with some worldly wisdom 😆🐾

It was quite hard to continue with a furry chin literally resting on my laptop, so I took some time out & enjoyed the sunshine for a bit with Basil. Turns out he was right. When I returned to work, everything seemed to drop into place easily.

I will be including some more life lessons from a labrador over the next few weeks 😊

A number of years ago I was lucky enough to take part in a coral restoration project to mark Earth Day. The marine biologist explained how important coral was to the whole planet, so every year I wonder how my coral is doing & hope that it is well on it's way to becoming a reef!

What's the best position to be in for meditation?
Answer: Whatever is the most comfortable for you!

There's no need to sit cross legged, unless this feels right for you. Sitting with your feet on the floor & your back straight grounds & brings balance, but again if this is uncomfortable, simply sit however you feel at your best.

Make your meditation practice your own. No rules.

(I'd avoid lying down completely though - it's just too easy to fall asleep!😴)

'Self care' is often an afterthought, something that we might get round to when everything on the 'to do' list is done & everyone else has been looked after.

This is why I like this quote - thinking of self care as 'fuel' gives it a more tangible meaning. We don't expect to go very far if we don't look after the mechanics of our car & fill it up regularly & it's the same with ourselves.
In fact, years ago, a builder who used to come & see me for regular Osteo treatment once told me that he suddenly realised he spent more time & money keeping his truck going than himself & realised he needed to change that, hence the regular treatments alongside other lifestyle changes.

So as we head into the holiday weekend, how could you add in some self care? What can you do that is just for you?

Carol was a really busy, super successful business

Carol was a really busy, super successful business owner. She worked long hours & travelled often.
She came to my clinic complaining of back pain, digestive problems & tension headaches. During the consultation it became clear that stress was a major contributor.
Because she was so busy, she found it difficult to find time for any exercise & spent most of her days hunched over a desk. So I suggested she just stood on her yoga mat in the morning & taught her a 2 minute breathing meditation. She left slightly skeptical, but committed to doing this every day.
It wasn't too long before she found that the headaches were reducing, she felt calmer, people started to ask her what she was doing differently. She started to enjoy her new start to the day & began to add in a few stretches. Two minutes went to 10 minutes, then half an hour. When she visited the clinic a few months later she happily told me that she had started yoga classes & was now regularly meditating (and had introduced meditation classes into her office!)
Wow, what a difference!
A simple, quick meditation exercise had such a positive knock on effect long lasting health benefits.
For me, this was the moment that changed how I worked with clients. I saw firsthand how powerful meditation & visualisation techniques could be in helping my clients in so many ways.
I now always include some form of meditation or visualisation into all my courses & coaching programmes.

Today is World Health Day!
With everything that has gone on in the world in the last couple of years, health or lack of it has definitely been a focus.
As a business woman, it's easy to get caught up in all the gazillion jobs that need to get done in the day.
That 'To Do' list keeps on growing right?
But YOU are your most important business asset, so isn't it time to prioritise YOU?!
Why not add these simple, quick to do healthy habits to the top of your 'To Do' list?

🚶‍♀️Take a walk outside - even just for 10 minutes - if you can make this in a green area, better still!

💧 Drink more water - add cucumber/berries/herbal tea bags to make it more interesting!

🥑There is a lot of controversy over which 'diet' is the best for us & it's totally confusing, but the one thing most agree on is that more plants on the plate is a good thing, whatever your diet preference!

💃 Our bodies are designed to move! So set an alarm & get up from your desk regularly, stick on some favourite music & dance around the kitchen or do a quick stretch routine whatever feels right for you on the day.

🙏 Meditate - even if you just stand & focus on breathing in & out for a couple of minutes - you'll be surprised at how calm it will make you feel. There are so many health benefits to meditating, it really is amazing - I'll be sharing more here & on my website over the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

Happy Sunday! I hope you find some time for you today ~ even just 10-15 minutes can make a difference. For me, well it's an unusually sunny day just beginning here, so I am planning to sit outside for the first time this year with a lovely cup of frothy coffee & a pile of my favourite cookery books & spend at least an hour leafing through some delicious recipes for inspiration ~ it might not be everyone's idea of relaxing, but for me, it's one of my favourite Sunday morning rituals!
